I made my own objective evaluation yesterday and dumped 7.01 after
screwing around with it for the better part of three hours. I
downloaded Mozilla 1.2.1 (according to its Release Notes, the
recommended version for 8.6 - 9x) and had identical problems:
clicking onto a bookmarked site usually produced a blank page; very
slow to open; delay between the click onto Bookmarks and its
opening). Whereas 7.01 has a lot of potential, it's just not worth my
time trying to make it work.
I also downloaded the latest Beta version of iCab and am playing with
that until it runs out tomorrow (31 Dec) at midnight when it turns
into a pumpkin.
And, I still have Opera to mess with. And IE 5x for those sites which
won't work for Netscape. I'll continue to use Netscape 4.8 as my main
browser until something comes along which works better. Also, I use
Composer as a WYSIWYG, so Netscape will probably always be with me.
