Yeah, but my old ISP stepped on their own dingaling when I documented
to them that all these drop-offs and failures to connect curiously
happened between 6:30PM and 8:30PM weekday evenings with few problems
at other times. It had been happening with increased frequency
starting this past summer when they reached a certain threshold of
new customers. They had the same thing happen back in 1999 when they
reached 2000 customers; they installed a bunch of new phone lines and
the problem was cured until now as they approach 4000 customers. They
need more lines, but won't admit it. They also don't offer broadband
(except commerical T-1 at $395/mo), so I switched to Road Runner and
have no regrets.

...Well, one regret: my ISP was run by a couple of Mac Nutts and we
got along just fine in that respect. Road Runner Mac tech support at
my local RR office is poor, but I've learned enough over the years to
be my own online technician and have solved what few RR problems I've
had so far.
