Same here...when we moved into our house, I had to replace all the 
phone lines; otherwise the best I could connect at was 300 bps.

That said, if you're in Arizona, you're in Qwest's evil clutches; they 
have the worst infrastructure imaginable. Whenever it rains, my modem 
connections get really crappy, and unfortunately, it's nothing I have 
control over, as I know our wiring is good, because I did it myself. 
Also, everyone else on our modem bank complains then, too, so it's 
their wiring that's the problem.
