The Maxtor 60GB DiamondStar in my 7300 (I'm typing this on the PB1400 now) suddenly made several hiccuping-like noises and the computer froze, and now it won't spin up at all. It made some noises like this a few weeks ago, which I attributed to power problems, but they never recurred after replacing the power cable. Doing that again doesn't seem to do any good and nothing can even see the drive (connected to a Sonnet Temp Trio) anymore.
Does anyone have any suggestions before I, in a fit of cathartic rage, bust out the platters and use them as lethal Frisbees on the heads of passers-by? If I could get it to just spin up, I could get everything onto the dual G4's cavernous 120GB disk and then get another drive (I guarantee you it won't be a Maxtor, since I've also heard some unpleasant stories from others). -- ----------------------------- personal page: http://www.armory.com/~spectre/ -- Cameron Kaiser, Point Loma Nazarene University * [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Once, adv.: Enough. -- Ambrose Bierce, "The Devil's Dictionary" ------------ -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
