Both remedies are for stichtion or strichtion or whatever it is. The fix is usally for older drives that have been unused for a while. We don't know if that's the problem with the Maxtor. I have slapped a drive and got it to work long enough to get stuff off. I don't have room in my freezer for a hard drive.
