maybe that would be the difference if the install was for all systems
or just that computer?
it was a long time ago since I had to do any of those, but we did not
get it to work, 8.1 on the other hand has started from cd on all
occasions,
i also had a 68 k specific install that worked for starting up, but
then the other functions caused strange crashes, since the problem
was gettin it to start up at all, the best solution would be to ask
the mentioned friend that hopefully has an inet connected mac to
download the disk images and make startup cds from them?
then if after booting from the cd you copy the system from the
diskettes content to the hd and restart AND you get the error message
that the it doesnt work with that startupdisk or if its starts saying
that this system was not ment for that use, then you'll at least will
know that the hd still works, and that there hopefully is no error
with the powerchord or scsi ??
Can you connect the cd inside the quadra? Partition the drive in 2
and install a system on one ofthe created partitions and then move it
back ? and work from there ???
I know that both 8.1 and 8.5 - 6 cds will startup the 7500 - then you
do not have to have those specific systems if you find them to slow?
all you need is to get a workin SYSTEM, FINDER and SYSTEM RESOURCES
to start the from the hd and work from there ??
