Because the devices themselves act as a "weak" terminator. The SCSI-N spec calls for a 7438 open collector driver and a 7414 Schmitt-trigger receiver, and a 132 ohm transmission line, terminated at both ends in order to eliminate reflections. The 7414 (or the more modern equivalent, be it a 74LS14, or a 74LS244, or whatever) inherently provides a weak "pull up" resistor, which is precisely what the 220/330 terminator does. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
