The Mac OS itself is remarkably stable! "the occasional <xxx>" is unacceptable! In a well-configured Mac, the only crashes (freeze, lock-ups, etc) you get should be *directly* attributable to something, such as invoking a known bug in a specific application. eg: closing a window too soon in iCab 2.9 while a web page is still loading. Any more than that simply doesn't qualify as "stable". I'll betcha at least half of the freezes and bus errors you're getting are scsi foo. For comparison: The router/server here, a PM 7100/66 running IPNetRouter, file sharing, and NetPresenz, hasn't crashed since before Xmas - and that was to do a brownout. My desktop PM 7300/180, except for when I was playing with some alpha- and beta- test softwares, has not "just crashed" in months. ...I'm not saying this to be combative. Just trying to point out that the "normal" you see may in fact be that scsi luck running out... FWIW, - Dan. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
