Bruce, I never called anyone "too stupid" nor will I take it to the level of a flame with personal attacks. My statement was an overall generalization based upon personal experience. This is also the very reason that I expected to see the response that my post has generated to the list. The level of passion that everyone has for what works for them. I spend just as much time everyday on the net, and I'm quite comfortable in the fact that I CAN do it with ONE browser and ONE email program. I'm not naive enough to think that this is the case for everyone - I'm not a developer or a site builder or involved with anything where I have to insure the cross platformabilty of my work between browsers. I did like the look, feel and features of NS 7 when I DL'd and installed it. So much so that I was comptemplating switching, believing I had finally found something better, and damm spell check, theres something outlook hasn't thought enough of for macs - but as soon as I started using it, it was the same ole slow as molasses functionality I've come to expect from NS. As far as not seeing many explorer related post- well I just find it hard to believe there was any mass exodus taking place. Some reliable marketing info would be interesting, including bussiness vs. consumer. As for system/configs: I've run both NS (v.4?-7.0) explorer&outlook (v4?to the current) on the following machines under every OS from 7.1 to 9.2.2 (ie; 7.1,7.1.3,7.5.,7.5.1,7.6,8.1,8.5,8.6,9.1,9.2.1,9.2.2,) I didn't bother with NS on X. The Machines: MacII, MacIIvx, MacIIsi, MacLC, LCII, LC520,LC580, PM5260/100, PM6100/60, PM7100/66, PM6400/200, PM8600/300, PM8600/G3/500/1m, G3/DT/300. Every one from the LCII forward had the max ram allowed and ram doubler installed up to the 6400, I also use to use speed doubler alot. I forgot the PB1400/166 w 64megs ram. The results have always been the same: NS - slow as molasses, explorer - smoking in comparison. AOL dial up,Earthlink dial up,Comcast cable. *It really is all about what works for your needs. *I was not intending to attack one individual for asking for help with NS, *I see alot of post concerning NS's buggyness. But you had to use that word "speed" again. Maybe I erred in assuming that Dans? words were in reference to the general consumer, and not the tech savy residents of this list. In the future, I'll resolve to keeping my impassioned, opinion based responses to myself.(yea your welcomed) And respond only to that which I can provide linkable evidence for, or prefix with: from my experience... hey,I thought I was aleast conveying that. and BTW, I AM WISE - just don't let it get out please. *Peace* -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
