With DSL or Cable you won't need any PPP. You will use DHCP Server or PPPoe. The ethernet should show up in AppleTalk. Ethernet may show once you have something connected. The ethernet port with the Cat 5 or fat phone type jack is what you will use for ethernet DSL or Cable.
If your ethernet is dead you can get a PCI ethrnet card cheap. These cards are often provided buy the company installing the DSL.
