Well, since it's set up to get video from Firewire connected cameras, 
that's a no brainer requirement. iMOvie isn't set up to be a generalized 
video editor, only one for DV.

Those are the culprits. Enable those and iMovie will run, otherwise you 
get an error, about missing firewire ports.

As I said, you will need to use QT Pro to convert the MPG's to DV 
Streams, the only file type that iMovie will open.
