Hey, I'm wondering what type of HD you have. I think I've narrowed it down to the hard drive being to fast for the powermac. I have a Tempo Trio and a Maxtor 120Gig hard drive in a G4/700 9500. And Sonnet Tech support kind of confirmed it as well. Here is the email I received today:
"Actually this is the reason that the Tempo AV Tool was created and included with the Trio card. It prevents this issue but unfortunately it's only under OS 9. There is no OS X version of this tool and I'm not sure if there will be one or not. Apparently it'll be a very tough thing to port over to OS X. The Tempo AV tool alters some of the parameters on the card to slow it down a bit so the slower machines can handle the data flow. The card is moving data too fast for the machine to handle hence you get the distorted audio and video playback. If you were to play these same files from a SCSI drive, you'd see no problems at all. We are keeping track of the number of requests we get for an OS X version of this software and if we reach a certain critical mass, we can show the engineers that this is something that needs to be done. So far, we haven't had that many requests to be honest with you. But I'll add your name and email to the list." Now, how come some people on this list have 9500s that don't have all the audio stutters that mine does????
