For the kind of work you envision a PCI IDE controller card (Sonnett's,
SIIG or Acard) would do now that IDE drives come in 120 plus gig flavors.
Be aware that data loss is a fact of life with any drive so backup to CD or
CDRW regularly as my friends who do color separation under Photoshop always
do.
