Just a note: The IIfx used the unwired 1/2AA lithium batteries. Two of them, to be exact.

From a former IIfx owner

I know for a fact that Radio Shack carries the 1/2AA battery, because I got one there for my IIfx a few months before I sold it recently. The price wasn't great (I think I paid almost $10 USD for it), but they have them and they work fine.

Right now, there are literally millions of wired 1/2AA lithium cells on
the surplus market, but I've not seen conventional 1/2AA lithiums in
similar quantities for quite some time.

The wired cells were used on SEs, SE/30s, and other models up to about
the IIfx.

Do they (the surplus batteries) have recent data codes or are they old? As a rule of thumb, I avoid the lithium batteries if they're three or more years old. I know, I know, many of them live to be seven or more. But I've also seen three year old ones come off the rack dead.

I might be interested in a source for some of those surplus batteries if they're recent manufacture and if I mustn't buy scores at a time. :-)
