Re: 10.3 won't install (was: OT: Is Panther Faster?)

Hi, I'm back!  I have attempted an install of 10.3 on my beige G3 
(233MHz Rev. A ROM, 128MB RAM, the bare minimums)  Upon 
double-clicking the nice little icon labled "Install Mac OS X" I am 
informed that the computer I am trying to install Mac OS on is 
incompatible ("Mac OS 10.3 cannot be installed on this machine.")  I 
read the requirements:
-a G3 or G4
-128MB RAM
_built-in_  usb
-Mac video card (built-in or supported card)
-2GB HD or more

My mac fits these requirements nicely, except for that built-in usb 
thing.  Why would Mac OS be relying on built-in usb so badly?  Or is 
this not the reason I can't install 10.3?

The USB  is the tip -off. And I don't think an add-on card will 
qualify in this case.

By the way Andrew , any 7X00, 8X00 or 9X00 Macs in your collection ?  ;- )
