Got Service Pack SP6a (128 bit encryption, but not the check build version) installed on Windows NT 4.0. It does work better now. My student copy of Pro/Engineer now functions. I am still looking for a copy of AutoCAD 2000 or 2000i full version, registerable copy, to buy.
However, I have as yet been unable to get the shared file/folder/drive option to work in the setup panel. And when I try to expand the drive size of the C drive, it says the free space index is corrupt and I need to run ScanDisk. I have run Norton Utilities for Windows version 2001 on the machine and installed it. I don't seem to have ScanDisk on this version of Windows. I do have ChkDsk and have run that several times. I will see if ScanDisk can be downloaded and if it will fix the problem. I started with Orange PC 3.1.1 and did the upgrade to 3.4.2 from their download site. That left me with a D drive that was invisible to the Mac and was apparently causing other problems. So I used the setup panel to get rid of it. It had Windows 95 and 98 files that I do not believe I needed. Once I get the drive size enlarged to 1600 Mb (it is currently 800Mb) I will be able to add a couple of other Windows applications that my wife needs in order to check web design. I will need to buy a router and figure out how to configure the IP addresses of the Mac and the Windows machines so that each one is independent. Or maybe, I should let the router do that. I've never done this so I'm not really certain. I real learning process. How people survive on the Windows side without an IT person or tech support is beyond me. Maybe that's why IT guys are so hostile to Macs: they know they would be out of work. Neal Carrie L.
