Recently, I've been asked to repair two Power Mac 8500s that power up but
fail to boot. On each machine, there's no boot sound, there's no launch from
the hard drive (it spins briefly and then stops), and the monitor remains
black.

I've replaced the motherboard batteries (3.6-volt lithium) with new ones.
I've also swapped out power supplies; reseated all the memory modules,
processor cards and PCI cards; checked all of the cables; and reset the CUDA
switch. And still there's nothing.

Does anyone out there have any clues?

Joe
