Hi

I put a 5500/225 board in my 630CD, but I didn't add a PCI card just
to avoid any problems. I don't think the issue is the total amount of
voltage. It has to do with a separate voltage line to the logic board
for the PCI slot power.

I have tried starting the 630 with a 5400/160. I didn't use ANY PCI cards even removed video and comm slot - the board was empty but the RAM. It didn't work. The fan started spinning but I didn't get no chime nor anything else. I will try a 5500/250 any day now if it makes a difference.

Is there anyone that has built a voltage regulator to turn the 630 power supply into something suitable for a PCI motherboard?

Regards,
Boris
