Hi....Boris, what I call the "infra-red"-series of Macs are a rather

interchangeable, just the form factor of the "tail-piece" is different.
I've built a lot of hybrid machines and never have changed a P/S in any of
them. Why? Well, it never came up as an issue. My "pet" 6360-6500/300mhz
runs great with the stock P/S and I have all the A/V and TV stuff installed.

What about using the PCI slot(s) ?

The issue will be that using the PCI slot may cause problems in the 54/55/64/6500 logic board swaps into the infrared Macs.
I have swapped several boards but I leave the PCI slot empty to avoid problems due to insufficient voltage. This issue is addressed on the Color Classic upgrade sites where a PPC logic board is used and there are directions to add the necessary voltage for the PCI functions.
As long as you leave the PCI slot(s) empty there should be no problems.

Has anyone had any experiences using PCI cards in the PPC infrareds Macs ?

I have a LC580 all-in-one with a 5500 board installed. I'm doing some testing on PCI cards for voltage issues.
I tried a PCI video card but didn't use it long term to be sure but there were no apparent problems. Next I am going to put a USB card in it next to test all my USB add-ons.
