If a 9600 CPU daughter card is like that of the 8600 card, then the answer is "NO."
For example, I tried to put an 8600 card into a PM 7200 and it would not boot/post at all.. d'oh.... These cards are made specific for their Mac model... I think Apple's website had a tech note about this...
