you might want to think about putting your programs on a separate partition
from windows then image your windows partition with either Norton's Ghost or
PowerQuest's Drive Image, then you can just load the image of Windows back
on without having to reload any of the programs......I can format my new
computer and have everything back up and running now in under an hour.....I
don't know how I ever got along without this before......it's definitely the
way to go, IMO

wish I had some more ideas on the png thing, but it sounds to me like you've
covered everything I could think of...if fixing the extension in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT didn't fix it, I am clueless :-(

Subject: Re: PCWorks: PNG files & IE corrupted by "Fireworks"

Been over a year I would guess. I agree, (yes I have all the
'goodies' on some cdr disks) it's just the downtime
involved.....having to install and setup hundreds of programs
on a new HD (I have a new one just sitting here waiting to be
used :-). Something I can't afford to do now due to time
constraints. (thanks for the reg tip for the IE window
problem, but, well, I think you can guess..was a no go) My
system is very stable and no problems until now with this png
problem, (other than that annoying IE window problem). If I
can't find a way to fix this macromedia problem, I'll have to
put the new HD in now regardless. Then maybe I'll send THEM
a bill for downtime or 'damage' <LOL>
