Thanks for the reply. Well, that IS/WAS the problem. Fireworks was opening png
images, instead of IE (5.01)
as it should. I could not change this hijacking by macromedia. So, Fireworks is what
caused the problem in
the first place. Uninstalling made things worse. Now, IE WILL open a browser window
with png files, but they
never load, as seen in that screen shot I uploaded.
http://www.orpheuscomputing.com/PNGwindow.gif This is what happens when clicking png
images ALREADY ON my
hard drive. I am positive it's macromedia because that is when the problem started.
It was opening png files
and there was no way to change that. (The only problem I was having before was the
browser windows opening in
a tiny window instead of maximized).
Thanks again for the reply,
-Clint

Clint,

Just a thought.
IE 4 does not support viewing png files, (re: KB # Q174946) however I'm
assuming since you stated that you used the repair tool that you are using
IE 5.x

With the other problems you've been having with IE could all these be
related? Some kind of a mixture of IE 4 and 5 registry entries at the same
time due to a corrupt install of an upgrade some where along the way?

In my own setup I tried to open a png file with IE 5.5 and it opened it in
Fireworks. Not inside IE

It doesn't sound like a Macromedia problelm to me. Course that's just my
opinion........I could be wrong :)
Rick
