Yes I know that but search engines don't. CERT uses the term "outlook" for their "Infosec Outlook" notes. >if you knew >what Outlook can do that Eudora, Pegasus, TheBat, Poco, Netscape, AND >Outlook Express cannot do, you would not make blanket statements about >people dropping Outlook......it has MANY features in it which make it the >program of choice for most of us who use our email for business......if you >just want email, use any of these, but if you want something with the >advanced business features, you have to use either Outlook or Lotus >Notes.....and, if you've ever tried using Notes as an Internet email client, >I'm sure you are aware of its shortcomings Yes, Novell Groupwise and Lotus Notes are great products in-house or on a LAN and terrible when then send e-mail. The gateways must try to make sense of the proprietary coding and then attempt to send e-mail across the Internet that recipients can read. I was trying to show that Outlook is an abject failure when it comes to security. Most of all the v*rus and security breaches are from/to/for Outlook and NOT Outlook Express (believe it or not). If you want to use Outlook in a business environment, fine, use it in-house and something else to send/receive e-mail from the Internet. Many large organizations do exactly this. One internal LAN/WAN secure system using the product of choice (Groupwise, Notes, Outlook, etc) and some other product of choice via a proxy server to the Internet. -- Gerry Boyd ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
