Hmm, and I heard is was good! Guess I'll know soon if it works for me or not. I haven't tried it yet, but there is a way to 'test' the backup to make sure it's good and it will indeed restore the HD.
Yeah, I've heard all sorts of bad things about adaptec's ECDC, but it's all I've ever used and never had any problems with it as long as I used the updates. I hated Nero, NTI, CD Clone, etc. Guess I'm just not used to their interface. Also, you can't even use a cdR disk with Nero's packet writing, only a cdRW disk. 90% of the time I use DCD, I hardly ever use ECDC and DCD has no 'interface', I like the way you can simply drag files to the cdrw drive's shortcut icon on the desktop, or right click and 'send to cdrw drive'. I haven't had any problems with ECDC either since I started using a burn proof drive. Guess it just depends on what one is used to and what you learned on. :-) What is the company or URL (and $) of that software that works in DOS? BTW, all I did was deleted that line from msdos.sys and that worked ok. Hook no longer there. I'd still like to know how that happened! By the way, NTI now a deluxe backup that lets you backup systems in 95, 98, ME, 2K, and XP. And found the other day a commerical company, which I have the URL of at work, and I am writing this at home, which produces software to make CDs not only in Windows but in Dos as well. This is the first time that I can recall that I have seen a commercial package to produce CDs of all kinds in a Dos environment, including system backups. It does not seem to do compression of the data, but I could be wrong on that. And I think, if I am not mistaken, to properly handling the long file name issue of windows file names - meaing it can save not just the file with the 8.3 file name but the windows long file name as well, so if restored, windows can work properly.
