Thanks for your response. I have checked the Options/Connections tab and the
"hang up after sending and receiving mail" is not checked. Also, I have had
to reset the homepage more than once, and did click 'apply' and then 'ok'
afterwards.  I guess I will have to call tech support, but I wasn't happy
with the one time I called them before. The person I got didn't really
listen and asked a question that I had just clearly clarified before he
asked it.

I am interested in DSL...and will be glad to hear suggestions, but would
still love to hear step by step instructions on my original problems...

Cindy - I don't use Earthlink - have you gone into your settings of Outlook
Express/Options/Connection tab to make sure you don't have checked off "to
hang up after sending and receiving??"

Check your Internet Options in Control Panel to see if the correct home page
is listed there in the address under General.  If not make sure you click
apply,
okay after changing.
