Ok, but that's still not "dial up".  All modems have to connect
in some manner, and DSL connects by connecting to a specific
number.  If you have a router, it acts exactly as a cable modem
and is always on, immediately connected as soon as your Desktop
loads.  With a router you only have to "configure" it one time.
