Our friendly PCWorks team was very kind trying to help me figure out about my dialup, but the bottom line was that I couldn't fix it. In my frustration, I decided to re-install Windows.
Windows XP won't let you do that. I re-installed a copy of Windows on top of the old one, in order to fix damaged files, and I did a massive Windows Update. My dialup connection was just as bad as before, but the re-installation did remove my sound, USB, and graphics drivers. The system refused to recognize the drivers on my motherboard CD. That CD had worked in the past. I tried to format Drive C: (I have several NTFS partitions; Windows is on Drive C:) However, Windows won't let me format a drive with system files. I tried to use Format in the Recovery Console. However, it asked for my password. I don't have a password. After trying three passwords, it restarted the computer. How can I bypass the password question in Recovery Console and format Drive C:? David Grossman ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
