I don't think so - it depends on the setting of the camera. If you turn the shutter 
ring while the aperture is not at A (aperture priority), I would expect the camera to 
go into manual. At least this is what the press release suggests.

Not likely. The MZ-S has a dedicated ML lock button. 
I suspect the hold button enables the camera to stay in the prefered mode but still 
adjust eg. shutterspeed. Eg. you're in manual mode but want to set the shutterspeed to 
the metered value. You then press the green (IF) button and the camera goes into 
aperture priority mode. However, you do not want the camera to jump into aperture 
priority mode - only set the shutterspeed according to aperture priority, hence you 
use the hold switch - the camera will still be in manual mode. With the use of the 
hold button the manual mode turns into hyper manual like on the Z-1p. Without the hold 
button the IF button work like instant switch between modes. I'm not sure it works 
exactly like this but its certainly something similar. A dedicated shutter lock makes 
no sense if it isn't connected to exposure in this manner.
