The other thing to watch for is that the early coatings (and glass) were very 
easy to scratch and some were so impermanent as to render the lens disfigured 
after a few cleans. I owned a very early M Summicron 50, it was a really nice 
lens but it had suffered scratches to the front element so it was a little lack 
lustre in the contrast department.
