I'm aware that the rechargeable batteries in digital cameras
eventually wear out.  How about the memory?  Spec'd at so
many reformats, or not?

Lon, my impression is that the mechanics of shutter release would wear out way before built-in memory starts to exhibit problems. As to external memory cards - you would have to replace them every now and then...


But still, again MHO would be that modern electronics are not built to last, like for example M-series cameras last - seemingly forever... So having to replace your DSLR camera body every 2-3 years seems like a quite normal course of action.
