256 Meg will be fine, especially if you're working mostly in 8-bit
color. It'll be a little slow with 16-bit images but it'll work. (It
helps that PS7 won't let you have multiple layers when you're in 16-bit
mode!) 512 Meg to 1 Gig would be better but you'll probably see big
improvements with a faster hard drive, too. I just upgraded to a 7200
rpm UDMA-100 drive (from a 5400 rpm unit) and the improvement was
remarkable.

512 should be fine. That's what I'm using.

Don't know. Never used it. I think it's mainly lacking in things like
tools for working in 16-bit color.
