While I wasn't right out in the open, she did see me photographing the area while she was ordering her meal. In fact, we even spoke briefly ... nothing of any consequence, just a few words about ordering at the window. So, while I didn't ask permission to take the shot, and I didn't stick the camera in her face, it may well be that she knew, or perhaps suspected, that I might grab a shot or two of her. The camera was at one point on the counter facing her, and then I moved it lower to get the menu behind her into the shot.
