Shel, I think, you misunderstood the drift of my post...

As a life long slide shooter with another life, I chose not to spend time
processing my film. I therefore was at the mercy of commercial outfits to do
this for me, fortunately I was able to find good reputable processors, but I
still yielded the ultimate control of my images over to them.

I was simply stating the fact that with my recent shoot, I was already able
to account for a significant part of the cost of the *ist D. I would still
have shot that much film w/o the digital.
I learned a while ago that when you take one shot of something it becomes
your best shot.

I don't consider myself a digi person... I'd rather think of myself as an
outdoor photographer.
