Well Dave, it looks like you got outdone by a cute dog. The photo of the
dog, from a technical standpoint, is not worthy of a mention. I think I
would have chose the third-place photo over it, but your shot has much more
to offer my sensibilities. Just goes to show how meaningless some contests
can be...

Subject: No prizes for second place!
Hi all,
My local camera shop runs an informal monthly contest on its website.
First
prize is two rolls of slide film plus your photo displayed on their
homepage. I
threw a few pictures their way a couple of weeks ago and ended up in second
place.
You can check out the images here:
1st place: http://www.photo.co.nz/photo/photo_comp/may01/dog.htm
2nd place: http://www.photo.co.nz/photo/photo_comp/may01/pond.htm
3rd place: http://www.photo.co.nz/photo/photo_comp/may01/bikes.htm
I won't offer my opinion on the first and third places for fear of sounding
biased :)
My pic was taken with a Mamiya RB67 but I don't remember which lens. Film
was either E100SW or Provia 100F. The location is "Somewhere between
Twizel and Lake Ohau (in NZ)".
Cheers,
- Dave
