First place has no redeeming characteristics whatsoever. The dog
is ugly, there is a distracting element in the top right corner,
there is no identifiable plane of focus, the arm in the
forground looks mis shapen, as if it is holding the animal in
place.
Overall, an amateurish snapshot which should have been trashed.
I was taking better pictures than that when I was 5 years old.
Second place is a very nice landscape image. It has a rather
sonber feel to it, but is very restive to look at.
Third place has potential. Unfortunately, it is under exposed by
at least a stop, and the shadows have insufficient detail. It
needs to be cropped differently to remove the expanse of nothing
on the left side. It would have been handled better in black and
white, where the films tonal range would have handled the scene
range. It is monochromatic anyway.
