I have been watching this thread and have elected not to comment to date 
but this one got me, I suspect that the sentence above should read:

"Second, sometimes, I do express what average people wish but only 
because of what they read in the bull sh*t advertising dumped on us by non-
photographic marketing types who would not understand a great feature set if 
it were staring them in the face"

The fact is that many mainstream journalistic photographers seem to use fill 
flash religiously whether it adds to the image or not so high speed sync has 
become a "need". Most amateur photographers don't shoot high speed 
sports (and those that do should buy equipment suitable for the purpose) so 
an average frame advance rate of 2.5fps is really 99% of the time completely 
adequate. I myself am looking for a compact,  robust camera with a good 
utilitarian feature set AKA MZ-S.

Just check the open PUG galleries to see the spread of subjects covered by 
Pentax listers, I would assume (from the comments that I read) that most of 
were shot using exposure parameters well within the scope of the MZ-S 
capabilities. Wherein lies the problems then?
