I have several items, such as Vivitar Macro Focusing TC that I'd like to sell on EBay. In light of most recent thread that Graywolf started, it would appear that I am most probably will end up facing possibility of negative feedback... I do realize that having to state that I am from Israel may attract dishonest buyers planning to negotiate after the auction end... With just 5 feedbacks total I may be in real trouble... Not to mention that my *only* way to accept payment is PayPal... What do I do? Try to find someone, may be on the list, willing to sell the darn thing for me for some percentage of the deal? Put the sucker on the shelf and forget it ever existed? Face the music? Try to produce such an auction description that will eliminate the possibility of complaint? If you're an active EBay seller, I would appreciate your help... Boris ========== Why do you assume you will get a negative rating??? I have 100% rating with 82 feedbacks (about 10-20% of buyers will never leave feedback). I describe things honestly. For instance, if I sell something, like a piece of China that has a flaw in the glaze, I mention it. If something is not mint/like new I describe it as being very good (if it is, that is). If it is a lens I am selling I say if I bought it used or new, how long I've had it, and how often I've used it. I describe what I liked about the lens and give its features (f-stop range etc.). You probably can give a better description of a lens than I can. I sold my K-1000 on ebay, I've sold about 6 lenses on ebay, and about 30-40 other non-camera items. And only about six items I tried to sell have not sold. There is no reason at all you can't get a good rating. In fact, to tell the truth, most people tend to believe a description that includes some negatively, some mention of flaws. It doesn't have to be overdone, just a little. It looks like honest advertising (and it is, which is why people believe it). So the quickest way to get a good rating, in addition to being honest, is to ship quickly. Go for it. Honesty really is the best policy. Buyers appreciate it. And with an honest description no one is ever disappointed. Also most buyers will use PayPal. You can specify how you will accept payment. It's up to you. If you limit it to PayPal, those who don't want to use it, won't bid. I prefer to give buyers other options, like money orders, because even now not everyone has a credit card, or if they do, not everyone likes to use it on the Net. Money orders take longer because they have to mail it to you, but it's nice to allow as many as possible to bid. HTH, Marnie aka Doe
