The A* 200 f2.8 ED is a nice lens, it's nice and small but if you can spring 
for the FA version you may be more pleased, the FA has closer focus 
capabilities, AF capability when it's required and I think it's just a little 
better optically plus the bayonet style hood is far more substantial and 
protective than the slide out hood on the A* lens. This is coming from the 
perspective of someone who has owned both concurrently :-)

The A* 300/4 is about the same size as the A* 200/2.8 but from my practical 
experience it's not a particularly great performer. It's OK but I believe that 
you would do just as well with a good TC behind which ever 200mm you choose.
