I really never warmed to the 2X-L, when tested with with my A300/2.8, A200/2.8
(last baffle removed), FA200/2.8 and A200/4 Macro lenses it consistently
produced visible double edges bokeh and didn't really achieve optimum
performance until each lens was well stopped down. The 1.7AF TC on the other
hand provided similar overall quality at wider apertures and with more pleasant
bokeh. The 1.4X-L offers better performance than the 2X-L but I don't believe
that it's a markedly better than the 1.7AF TC.
