I started with a Kodak disc camera, and I turned out okay.
I got an SLR when I demanded (at age 7) more control...I wanted to be
able to put what I wanted in focus and out of focus, and too light and
too dark and just right. I believe that's how I described it at the
time. ;)
Anyhow, just sayin' that I started out with an automatic, and I turned
out fine.
