Christmas doesn't have as solid a traditional menu as Thanksgiving.
But if there's a single most popular menu, it's probably a smoked
ham. That's what we usually have, along with au gratin potatoes
(sliced baked potatoes with a cheese and cream sauce) and a
vegetable. But we had a small ham a couple of weeks ago, so we
thought we'd do the crown roast. I made that once before, and it can
be very good. Cabbage or sauerkraut is a nice accompaniment. We will
certainly have an Austrian style cucumber salad. New Years is pretty
much wide open. We generally have Italian sausage sandwiches with
marinara sauce on New Year's Eve and eat the leftovers the next day.
