Hello...I'm back after all these years. I got my istDS over a year ago and since I have an existing collection of lenses, I got it without the kit lens (18-55/3.5-5.6). Except for the fact that I don't have a wide angle with my DS (since all my 28mms became 42mms), I was quite happy with my setup. Opportunities that came my way (a couple of guys bought my 28mms--Pentax are rare in the Philippines even if some models are actually assembled here) left me without anything that approximates a wide lens for the DS (I shortest lens in my inventory now is a 35mm). Checking the net shows that the price of the DA 18-55 has dropped below $100 so the cheapskate in me sees a bargain.
Or is it? Should I save up for the upcoming DA* 16-50/2.8? Or go for the Sigma 18-50/2.8 which is available now (over $300 last I checked)? Or maybe even stick with the Sigma 18-50/3.5-5.6 DC has always been around under $100?
