I'm not Paul, but A1.4X-S is configured like so...
On the lens side, 3 balls out, one flat, then 2 ball out (reading clockwise)
On the camera side 2 depressions, one pin out, then 3 more depression
contacts (clockwise)
The pin out is just that.  It's a movable pin in the middle of a
teflon washer for electrical isolation.
It travels in and out.
Do you have one?  Is it stuck IN.
I'd guess it needs to spring out to contack the K10 body.
