Brian: Without knowing the overall purpose of the River Enviorns' Project & how specifically the stump photograph contributes to the purpose of this project, it would be difficult for me to give a specific answer in this case--but I'd probably agree with your general point about contextual usage. In general, I'd probably just say, when the facts are crucial, place your loyalty in the shot as seen. When fancy is the point, go ahead and ride the wings of the fairies!
