My PDML annual was supposedly delivered at 1:28 this afternoon and
left at my front door. I've been home all day and there is no
package at my front door. A phone call to their so called customer
service department told me that I would have to wait until the driver
returned tomorrow to find out the dispostion. I wonder if FEDEX will
reimburse me for the cost of the book if they can't locate it?
Never had this kind of problem with UPS.

I have.

I had UPS break the neck on a 35 year old guitar. I paid for having the guitar insured during shipment, but UPS said the the shipper to file the claim. They picked it up to return it to the shipper so they could do so.

UPS then proceeded to lose the guitar for 8 weeks - due to flat-out, pure NEGLIGENCE - and when it finally arrived back at the shipper, they informed UPS the guitar had been abused so badly they couldn't tell what had happened to it.

UPS tried to deny the insurance claim.

Fortunately, I had taken photographs showing the condition in which it arrived, with the only damage being the neck UPS had broken.

I had to have a little face to face talk with the local UPS Hub manager regarding getting my guitar repaired ... at UPS expense. He was still a little cool on the idea until I came across his desk.

Hence, my comment some months ago that sometimes a credible threat of physical violence is necessary to get UPS attention.

The guitar *WAS* repaired, and I still have it; but it soured me on UPS.

I've since talked to several music store people and every one has told me that UPS frequently breaks guitars in shipment and it's always a hassle getting UPS to make good on the damage.

Fed-Ex has yet to get on my little list.

Believe it or not, the best people I've dealt with as far as getting reliable deliveries is the USPS. If I have a choice between UPS and the postal service, I'll take the postal service.
