I've since talked to several music store people and every one has told me that UPS frequently breaks guitars in shipment and it's always a hassle getting UPS to make good on the damage.

Fed-Ex has yet to get on my little list.

It's on mine... They broke two pieces of my mothers wedgewood china and stole, yes, stole, all her jewlery - which I insured for $3,000 - it was 1985 - she had just died -- I sent her tapestry bags, a small collection of coins and her 2 carat diamond ring (it may even have been 3 carats ) in a box back home . 7 boxes arrived safely (except for the china breakage) the last one never appeared... they had not told me about triple signature... (not necessary today, I have heard) I'm sure the local fedexers in Houston looked at the luittle box that was insured for $3,000 and it suddenly "got lost" . THey made good on the amount I said -- but I have a feeling it was worth more.. between my grief and the other stuff I had to deal with ... it had not occured to me... and I only sent the ring because I was afraid to wear it!.

Believe it or not, the best people I've dealt with as far as getting reliable deliveries is the USPS. If I have a choice between UPS and the postal service, I'll take the postal service.

absolutely - only way I'll send anything...

ann in the middle of NYC :-)
