Do that in Regina and someone will fill the gap you had in mind to fill. 
This is probably the absolute worst driver habit we have here, especially as 
it indicates an attitude of complete entitlement to the road (and ignores 
that changing speed to keep someone from changing lanes is a four point 
moving violation).
People will actually change speed to track you as you accelerate to 100k so 
that when you get up to speed you can't merge because they are right beside 
you. I had a moron bitch do that to me a while back on an expressway that 
was three lanes wide. She could have moved over, she could have stayed at 
the same speed she was travelling at, and she could have avoided me 
following her home and taking a 3 foot wrecking bar to her vehicle later 
that night.
Some people shouldn't have cars.
