I second that, my daily driver for four year was a type 1 with a
fibreglass flip front, only enough metal left to support tank and
front axle (and with a rear swingaxle to make matters worse). Not
wanting to add the weight I had just shaved off, I put one 195/50/15s
on the front and lowered the adjustable Puma all the way but still had
to raise the rear end torsion bars by two notches and throw relatively
tall 275/65/15 tires on the rear to bog it down enough to make it
street legal (wheelie bars are not so under any circumstances over
here). Downsides were tall tires like that tend to be wobbly and if
the rear end came loose it would come around, no matter what. But I
never had that much fun with a car again afterwards, ever. I never got
that 1835cc though that I wanted so bad.
