It's not just Epson. For the very cheap, "loss leader" sort of products, pretty much all the manufacturers do the same thing. When Vista came out, I had a Canon LiDE 50 flatbed scanner (still do, actually). As far as I know, Canon never did produce a Vista-compatible 32-bit driver for that scanner, and it's not supported under Win7, which uses the same driver model (I think). Never looked for a 64-bit Windows driver for it. On the one hand, that scanner sold for about US$ 50 at the time. On the other hand, it was still a current product when Vista came out, or it was still in stores here, anyway.
