Subject: Re: K-x body, anyone have any experiences to pass on?
My only concern is the trouble that some people is having with rechargeable batteries (see dpreview forum threads). Having owned a Ds and owning now a K20D, I can say that, despite I much prefer the universality of AA batteries, the proprietary lithium ones seem more reliable. I am interested in experiences with this (camera) body too...
I've given up on NiMH AA rechargeables in my *istD and gone back to lithiums. I was getting as few as 20 shots on 8 batteries (4 in the body and 4 in the grip) before the camera would shut down, and I was getting reluctant to take the camera out to use because of that. I started carrying around a set of lithiums as a back-up but when I realised that the back-ups were spending more time in the camera than the NiMH's I knew it was time to change. I suspect that the K-x is going to have the same problem with NiMH batteries as the *istD had. WHile the batteries have gotten more pwerful, the needs of the camera have also grown. In NA, the camera comes shipped with lithiums. Perhaps this is a hint.
